Fewer clothes, made properly.
Halden started in 2019 as a two-person workroom behind Durbar Marg. We still make a small collection each season, in fabrics we can name, and we still answer every message ourselves.
What we make, and what we don't
We make coats, knitwear, shirts and trousers that you can wear most days of the year. We don't chase every trend, and we don't run a new collection every month. Pieces stay in the range for as long as people keep buying them.
Each season starts with fabric. We choose a short list of wools, cottons and leathers, test how they wear and wash, then design around what they do well. A dense melton becomes a coat. A soft merino becomes a cardigan you can put in the machine.
Everything is listed with its full composition, online and on the sewn-in label. If something doesn't wear the way it should, tell us and we'll repair or replace it.
Visit the storeHow a piece is made
-
Choose the fabric
We order sample lengths, wear-test them for a month and wash them five times before we commit.
-
Cut the pattern
Patterns are drafted in-house and graded across sizes XS to XL, then checked on real bodies, not just the dress form.
-
Sew the sample
Our workroom sews every first sample. Seams, pockets and buttonholes are adjusted until they hold up to daily use.
-
Make in small runs
Production runs are small, so we can re-make what sells and stop what doesn't, rather than discounting piles of stock.
Fabric notes
What we use, why, and how to keep it looking right.
Wool and merino
- Used in
- Coats, knitwear, trousers
- Why
- Warm when it's cold, breathable when it isn't, and it resists smells
Air it between wears instead of washing. Hand wash knits in cold water, press out the water in a towel and dry flat. Brush coats with a clothes brush.
Cotton and linen
- Used in
- Shirts, tees, denim, totes
- Why
- Strong, easy to wash and softer every time
Wash at 30° with similar colours. Hang shirts to dry and iron while slightly damp. Wash rigid denim inside out, and not too often.
Leather and suede
- Used in
- Bags, boots, sneakers
- Why
- Vegetable-tanned leather ages instead of wearing out
Wipe with a damp cloth and let it dry away from heat. Condition leather twice a year. Brush suede and use a protector spray before the monsoon.
